Snow, Cancellation

Kid's Zone was closed today due to the snow which fell overnight. We will also be closed tomorrow (Tuesday). Our plans are to be able to open Wednesday morning, probably on a 2 hour delay. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please be careful in your travels, and in entering and leaving our facilities and property.

Kid's Zone is operating under a delay this morning. Due to inclement weather and dangerous conditions, we are delaying our opening until 9 am. Our parking lot at 6:30 am was icy and slippery, according to our opening teacher.

Weather conditions are calling for the temperature to increase as the day progresses. If anything changes, we will post it.

Kid's Zone is open this morning. Inclement weather is being called for in our area, and we will monitor the situation. As you know, a few miles in the direction of the incoming weather can make a difference as to what is being received in certain location. We have both teachers and children who live in various parts of the county. We have to make calls taking all the factors into account.

Should we need to close, we thank you for understanding. You will be contacted if the need arises to do so.

I just saw on channel 7, from Greenville, that schools are closed today in Rutherford County. I went outside to check, we are still at 34 degrees here where I live, and it was all rain. As you know, Rutherford County includes Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Rutherfordton. As I stated earlier, some of those areas will have a temperature that is 2 or 3 degrees colder, resulting in some freezing. The school decisions, I assume, reflect those conditions.

Unless I receive word of some freezing, we are still on go for a regular opening time.

Open at Regular Hours Feb 5

I am up early, and monitoring the weather this morning. As of 5:20 AM, the temp is above freezing at 34 degrees, and it is rain here. Unless the temps drop, or I am notified of icy conditions, we will open at regular time.

I live near Chase Baptist Church, on the southern end of the county. As you know, a change of a couple of degrees, or a distance of several miles, can mean a change in what is occurring. Because of the geographic layout of our county, many times those several miles north may be receiving freezing accumulation while I am getting rain.

Monitoring the weather

The weather forecasters are calling for a chance of more inclement weather, beginning sometime later tonight, and possibly running into Saturday. We will monitor the weather accordingly, and make any decisions regarding the opening and/or closing of Kid's Zone as conditions warrant. Our plan at this time is to open at the regular time of 6:30 AM in the morning.

If anything changes, we will post it.

I had developed this site some time back, but never took enough time to keep it updated, and had actually deactivated it. I decided to bring it back, and at least periodically, keep current news relevant to Kid's Zone here so that our parents, staff, and anyone connected or interested in Kid's Zone will have a place to check in for news and events.

We have openings

A new school year is upon us here in Rutherford County. It typically means there will be some preschool children who will need care, as their big sister, aunt, or some family member who has kept them through the summer are now back in school.

We have openings in pretty much all classes, if you need to enroll your child. Kid's Zone remains one of the lowest priced state licensed child care facilities in the state. We can provide this because the facilities are located at New Harvest Church, and the church provides the daycare the space rent free.

Kid's Zone is open today on the regular schedule. Light snow flurries fell last night, but no accumulations occurred in the Forest City area. Northern portions of the county had more.
